International Graduate Student Lecture Series 2019

Are you looking to share your environmental research on an international platform? Build your CV and have a once in a lifetime experience delivering a lecture to researchers across the world! The International Institute for Environmental Studies (IIES) and the Environmental and Life Sciences (ENLS) Graduate Program at Trent University is inviting you, graduate researchers in the environmental sciences, to participate in the IIES graduate student lecture series.

This lecture series will explore environmental science topics as they relate to global environmental issues. Topics include:

  • Novel Analytical and Applied Technologies
  • Water, Land, and Atmosphere Interactions
  • Ecological Issues and Biodiversity
  • Environmental Protection and Management
  • Aquatic System Modeling and Management
  • Contaminant Sources, Fate, and Mitigation

As part of this international lecture series, selected candidates will deliver a live online seminar to colleagues at IIES member institutions. Following the seminar, the speaker will participate in an online discussion with the audience. This will provide an opportunity for participants from around the world to ask questions and provide insight on the topic.

Applicants will be selected based on the student’s ability to communicate with diverse scientific audiences, the relevance of the topic to environmental sciences, and the capacity to connect the presented research to global environmental issues.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: December 1, 2018

Why get involved?

This seminar series provides an exclusive opportunity for graduate students around the world to gain experience in presenting their research to an international audience. At the end of each session, the facilitated dialogue will provide a forum for graduate students to exchange ideas on the session theme. As a graduate student-led initiative, this series provides a space for graduate students to share ideas and questions freely, providing a unique collaborative learning environment. This is an opportunity for those who have participated in other IIES events to continue to develop their connections with colleagues from partner institutions, and an opportunity for newcomers to start to build these relationships.
