IIES welcomes newest member, Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED), Vietnam National University

The MoU, signed in October 2021, between IIES and ICED (Vietnam National University) aims to facilitate cooperation in the academic and research missions of IIES’s members in the areas of related circular economy studies, which contributes to the development of science, technology, and innovation between Vietnam and Canada.

About the Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED), Vietnam National University

The Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED) is a public science and technology research unit under the Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). Its research focuses on practical solutions for a circular economy (CE) and sustainable development. The advisory board is comprised of the Chancellor of VNU-HCM, former Vice-Chancellor of Germany, and Chairman of Packaging Recycling Organization Viet Nam (PRO-VN). ICED’s council consists of VNU-HCM Professors, independent scholars, and industry leaders. Through VNU-HCM, ICED will establish partnerships among academia, governments, industry, NGOs, and other stakeholders. ICED has affirmed its position with visions to become a leading institute for the circular economy (CE) in Vietnam and the Globe South. Its key strategies include 1/ Increasing knowledge and research capacity, technological and innovative solutions; 2/ Promoting CE-related policies; 3/ Raising awareness through training and activities while engaging local authorities and businesses towards a circular economy.
