As part of a program to facilitate and strengthen scientific collaborations between researchers in France and Canada, the Embassy of France in Canada, in partnership with Campus France, have set up the High Level Scientific Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship has been awarded to PhD Student, Minh Duong, to fund her 2 months of research work with Professor Stéphane Mounier at the university of Toulon.

Scott Stebbing recounts his research abroad experience through the Queen Elizabeth Scholars program. Scott, an MSc student from Trent University, was given the opportunity to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to work with Dr. Quang Khai Ha at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Of the 7 billion tonnes of plastic waste produced globally, less than 10% has been recycled (UNEP). While there is a huge problem with plastic waste generally, more recently researchers have begun to identify problems associated with microplastics, i.e. very small particles of plastic that are either released directly to the environment or are formed in situ.
